Durham Travel Grant Application

Eligibility

Applicants must be regular full-time faculty at the University of Notre Dame.

Applicants may apply for both this Durham University Travel Grant Program and for the Notre Dame-Durham University Seed Grant Program but will not receive an award in both.

Funding

Funding requests can be made up to $4,000 and can be used to cover travel, visa (if required), accommodation and meals.

Application Guidelines

To request funding from the Durham University Travel Grant program, please submit a proposal to NDG’s submissions manager.

The application requires each applicant to include the following:

  • A proposal with outcomes identified (1000 words maximum)
  • A budget with justification
  • The name, departmental affiliation, and email of the hosting collaborator at Durham University
  • A current abbreviated CV (3-page limit) for both the ND and the Durham University collaborators
  • Letter from the Durham collaborator indicating their willingness to host, meet, and collaborate on the project as proposed

Criteria

  • Well-defined outcome(s) must be anticipated, such as a joint project or a proposal in anticipation of future joint publications and/or joint funding.
  • Applicants whose goals may not be realized without an in-person visit to the institution.
  • Applicants who demonstrate impact of proposed activities and connection to long-term goals.

Ineligible Activities

  • conference attendance or travel with a goal of planning a conference
  • student travel

Grantee Obligations

Recipients will submit an on-line report on the activities of the grant, and future plans for continued collaboration, within 30 days of completing travel.
