We seek applications from PhD graduate students who might be aided by being in London in their pursuit of research and the opportunity to teach. We particularly encourage applications from students working in areas that are currently of strategic importance to the College of Arts & Letters.

We can currently accommodate only one at a time, whether for a semester or for a full academic year, due to budgetary constraints and the availability of accommodations. The graduate students who come to the LGG would be those in their fourth year of studies, with their course work behind them, but before completing their dissertation in their fifth year.

We will clear the applicant’s availability after they have expressed interest with their advisors and their respective colleges, as there are, more recently, expectations that graduate students be available for teaching on campus.

The documents required from each applicant are as follows:

  • A cover letter - explaining the nature of teaching and research fields; explanation of interest in teaching/research in London. Note preference of full year or specific semester.
  • One draft course proposal
  • An updated CV
  • A letter of support from their supervisor granting permission for applicants to be away from campus for one semester or for the year.

The application deadline for the academic year 2024/2025 is 15 January 2024. We hope to make a decision and notify the selected graduate student by 1 February 2024.

If you have any questions about any of the above, please contact Dr Charlotte Parkyn, Director for Research and Partnerships at the LGG. (cparkyn@nd.edu
